SDFEssex Self Defence Training

SDFEssex self defence training, we don’t have to look far these days to read or hear about a wide variety of attacks. Over the last few years or so since I started SDFEssex self defence training, maybe my listening has become more selective to these situations, but I’m sure hardly a week goes by without being notified by social media of an unprovoked physical attack, SDF Essex teaches self defence for beginners.

Beginners Self defence classes in Brentwood and Great Baddow, Chelmsford

SDFEssex self defence training classes are suitable for Adults, Teenagers, Families and Children from age 10.

Parents, do you have a child who is in a school year 6 or 7?

These are often the years when pupils start to be more independent, start walking to and from school alone and receive their first mobile phone.

Travelling to secondary school for many pupils can include buses or trains for the first time, having further to walk and often means longer days combining earlier starts and / or later finishes.

…I had been looking for a Self defence class for my 10-year old daughter, due to start Senior School soon and walk on her own. She has learnt a lot over a short period of time and has grown in confidence. I would highly recommend the training.

Essex Mum review of Brentwood and Chelmsford self defence classes …

……Having moved to Essex with two teenage children, I wanted them to meet new people and try a new activity. I contacted Richard a self defence instructor who was so helpful and my children decided to give it a go.

SDFEssex Half day Beginners Self Defence class

Mountnessing Brentwood, and Great Baddow, Chelmsford half day beginners classes run each month.

Personal safety self defence (theory aspects approx 1 hour)

The format, although always fun, deals with serious issues.

From a personal safety point of view, the theory section of my reality-based self defence teaches students to put mobile phones away, out of sight. Removing the phone from being on show reduces the focus and possible intent for an attack/mugging.

Mobile technology is important and gives us access to various parts of our life, both business and social.

If we are walking down the street to work, meeting a friend, shopping, going to/from school etc. and have our phone out texting, updating social media, playing games etc. we are not concentrating on roads, traffic, surroundings or people.

There are many safety concerns arising from walking down the street with mobile in hand; potential theft, potential accident crossing the road etc.

Consider this; would you walk down the road with £50 cash in your hand? Yet we walk down the street with phone in hand, when these are potentially worth several hundreds of pounds.

If you need to text, call or email; stop walking, put your back against a wall, deal with the text etc. then securely replace the mobile in a bag or pocket and continue with whatever you were doing.

Practical aspects; standing and floor based techniques (approx 2 hours)

The second part of the half day beginners class is outside and deals with the practical elements of the training system and fitness, they include both standing and floor based techniques. Beginners Self Defence

The techniques are fairly simple however, very effective and are not reliant on strength. Students attend with varying fitness levels.

Following attendance at a half day beginners class students are able to attend the weekly classes as frequently as they wish to improve, critique and learn many new practical techniques, including knife and rape defence, this is on a PAYG basis.
